Full Time Weekend Shift

  • Thursday                                        12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
  • Friday - Sunday                             10:30 am - 10:30 pm

Full Time Weekday Shift

  • Sunday                                                10:30 am - 10:30 pm
  • ​Monday - Wednesday                              2:30 pm - 10:30 pm
  • ​Thursday                                              12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Full Time Mornings

  • Monday - Friday                               6:30 am - 2:30 pm

Part Time Weekend Shift (28.5 hours)

  • Thursday:                                            12:00 pm - 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm - 10:00 pm
  • Friday:                                                 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm
  • Saturday:                                            10:30 am - 10:30 pm
  • ​Sunday:                                               8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Part Time Weekday Shift (28.5 hours)

  • Sunday - Tuesday:                             4:30 pm - 10:00 pm
  • Wednesday:                                        3:00 pm - 10:00 pm
  • Thursday:                                           12:00 pm - 1:30 pm, 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Successful candidates will have a passion for working with highly emotionally disturbed and neglected children requiring a high level of understanding and patience, as well as being physically and emotionally able to interact with children and intervene during crisis situations when necessary

Specific duties include the following:

  1. Participate as a member of individual client treatment teams.
  2. Interact with our youth clients to provide care, establish and maintain a therapeutic adult/child relationship and provide a structured environment.
  3. Plan, participate, and engage adolescents in their treatment plan.
  4. Provide crisis intervention according to agency standards.
  5. Supervise family visits to home residences.
  6. Define and monitor the conduct of client behavioral routines.
  7. Transport clients as required using agency vehicles.
  8. Set limits and understand the needs of adolescents.

Required Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent and proven ability to read and write English
1 - 3 years of experience working in human services with serious emotional disorder at-risk youth males between the ages of 7 – 17 preferred.

The Knowledge of:

  1. The behavior patterns of at-risk youth and methods of modifying behavior and motivating youth towards their goals.
  2. Group dynamics and sensitivity to individual members of the group.
  3. Basic independent living skills such as money management, home management and education planning.

The Skills and Ability to:

  1. Ability and willingness to learn new skills.
  2. Ability and willingness to operate in a team based environment.
  3. Ability to set priorities.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Ability to use web based computer programs and intermediate computer knowledge is a requirement of this position. 
  6. Must be able to stand, walk, and run as needed to continuously monitor and interact with children throughout. the agency’s 80 acre campus.
  7. Must be able to become certified in First Aid, AED/CPR, and CPI methods of crisis intervention.
  8. Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  9. Must be acceptable under the State of Michigan's Good Moral Character Statute.
  10. Must be at least 18 years old.
  11. Must be willing and able to work holidays and weekends or on short notice.

Driving Requirements

Driving a motorized vehicle is an essential function of this position. Successful applicants must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Methodist Children’s Home Society will review driving records of candidates as part of the interviewing phase of the selection process. Candidates that do not possess an acceptable driving record will be disqualified from this particular recruitment.

The starting pay for this position is $12.14 per hour.
